Our commitment to safety, efficiency, and crew well-being is our top priority. We are looking for an experienced and reliable Ship's Cook to join our professional team and provide high-quality meals to our crew.
Job Summary
The Ship's Cook is responsible for all food preparation and galley operations to ensure the crew receives wholesome and nutritious meals in a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate has experience cooking in a marine setting, understands the unique challenges of shipboard life, and is a positive contributor to crew morale, you will be required to produce meals for all personnel onboard approx. 38 POB when on project operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare a variety of nutritious and delicious meals for the entire crew, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.
- Ensure that all food preparation and storage areas, as well as the galley, are maintained in a high state of cleanliness and sanitation, in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage food inventory, including ordering, receiving, and proper stowage and rotation of supplies.
- Adhere to a budget and minimize food waste.
- Accommodate various dietary needs and restrictions of the crew.
- Participate in all mandatory vessel emergency drills, including firefighting and abandoning ship.
- On smaller vessels, may be required to assist with general deckhand duties as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Valid Transport Canada Ship's Cook Certificate or a culinary certificate from a recognized institute.
- At least [e.g., 2-3 years] of experience as a cook, preferably in a marine, institutional, or remote camp environment.
- Possession of current STCW Basic Safety certification.
- Valid Marine Medical Certificate.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current Food Safe or equivalent food handling certification.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with the crew.
- Ability to work and stand for extended periods in a moving vessel in varying sea conditions.
- The ability to work and travel to the United States without any restrictions.
