This position is located at the Marine Transportation Services Shipyard in Hay River, NT.
Summary
The Shipyard Supervisor plays a key role in the daily coordination and execution of shipyard operations. Reporting to the Shipyard Operations Manager, this position leads crews and manage equipment resources to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work across a range of shipyard activities. As a Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading specific work areas or projects, enforcing health and safety compliance, and maintaining site organization. This role requires hands-on involvement in operations, the ability to provide direction to workers, and collaboration with other MTS departments and contractors.
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 education or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (5) years of experience in a shipyard, marine, construction, or industrial setting.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate labour and equipment in an active work environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Solid understanding of workplace safety practices and hazard identification.Willingness and physical ability to perform labour-intensive tasks and work in various weather conditions.
- Availability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and travel as required.Basic computer literacy and familiarity with administrative tasks such as documentation and timekeeping.
- Journey person certificate or experience in a trade considered an asset.
- Minimum of two (2) years Supervisory or leadership roles in similar setting.
Wage of $53.76 per hour, overtime when working in excess of 8 hours per day, and on weekends.
