NEW BAR OPENING — JUNE/JULY 2026
We're opening our doors in Calgary this June/July and building the founding service team. Get in on the ground floor.
About Us
Born and bred in Vancouver’s vibrant Mount Pleasant neighborhood, Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions is officially making the leap and expanding to Calgary!
We are a cocktail bar disguised as a postmodern thrift shop — part industrial warehouse, part breezy patio, all retro-cool. We pour an ever-rotating list of forward-thinking cocktails, fire up an Argentinian-style wood and charcoal grill, and treat hospitality like it matters. Because it does. We’re thrilled to bring our unique blend of nostalgia and high-energy hospitality to a whole new city.
The Role
We're hiring a Bar Apprentice (Barback & Morning Prep). This is the ultimate engine room position and the fastest track to becoming a bartender here. Half your time will be spent handling daytime prep—juicing, making custom syrups, and batching our cocktail list to precise specs. The other half will be night-time execution—keeping the bartenders fully stocked, heavy lifting, and moving fast in a high-volume environment. We want someone who is organized, incredibly hardworking, and hungry to learn the craft of a great cocktail bar.
What You'll Do
- The Morning Prep: Juice fresh citrus, build custom syrups, create infusions, and batch our cocktail list perfectly to recipe specs before we open.
- Fuel the Wells: Keep the bartenders armed and dangerous during the rush—restocking ice, glassware, spirits, garnishes, and beer without needing to be asked.
- Maintain the Station: Change kegs, manage trash/recycling, and quickly clear and wash glassware to keep the bar rotation moving flawlessly.
- Keep the Vibe Tight: Ensure the bar area, back bar, and prep kitchen remain impeccably clean, organized, and sanitary throughout the day and night.
- Pitch In: Help out with daytime load-ins, receiving orders, and deep closing breakdowns — we all leave when the work is done.
Who You Are
- High Energy & Serious Stamina: You love a physical job. You’ll be lifting heavy kegs, moving ice tubs, and staying on your feet for long stretches.
- Organized & Precise: When prepping ingredients, you care about precise measurements. You treat a recipe card like law so our drinks taste perfect every time.
- Calm Under Fire: When the ticket printer is going crazy and the bar is three-deep, you move faster, stay focused, and help the team keep its cool.
- Genuinely Curious: You want to learn about spirits, flavor profiles, and advanced cocktail techniques. We will teach you everything if you bring the work ethic.
- Flexible Schedule: Available for a mix of morning prep shifts and late-night weekend barback shifts (Wednesday through Sunday).
- 18+ (Required in Alberta to handle alcohol and clear glassware).
Required
- Valid ProServe certification before your first shift (Alberta law).
