Overview
We are seeking a responsible and dependable Summer Bus Driver to safely transport students and staff during the summer season for scheduled field trips. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for driving, customer service, and maintaining a safe transportation environment. The ideal candidate will have a valid class 2 Alberta driver’s license, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safety and reliability.
Duties
- Safely operate our company owned bus and passenger van on scheduled field trips during the summer months for our summer camp and daycare.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Responsible for fueling and washing the bus as required.
- Assist students in boarding and disembarking, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of the bus, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during transportation duties.
- Communicate effectively with summer camp director and children's program manager.
- Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, and vehicle inspections as required.
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance checks.
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with campers and staff.
- Excellent customer service skills to ensure a positive experience for passengers.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations related to commercial driving.
- Ability to operate buses efficiently while maintaining safety standards.
- Basic maintenance skills for routine vehicle checks.
Certifications
- Valid class 2 Alberta drivers license
- Valid police information check with vulnerable sectors (dated within the last 3 months)
- Valid first aid certifcation is an asset but not required
Schedule
- This position will be based on a contract from June 29, 2026 until August 21, 2026.
- Working hours will be based on scheduled field trips and average 3-4 days per week as outlined by the summer camp director.
- The schedule will be provided prior to start date.
