Independent Contractor - Sewing
We are a small creative business specializing in handmade fabric baby books and are seeking a reliable independent contractor to help with sewing. The books are very simple to construct, similar to sewing a basic quilting square, and clear instructions will be provided.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys sewing, wants flexible part-time work, and prefers to work from home at their own pace.
Responsibilities
- Sew fabric baby books according to provided instructions
- Maintain consistent quality and neat stitching
- Complete agreed-upon quantities within reasonable timelines
- Communicate availability and progress clearly
- Return finished books via local drop-off
Materials
- All fabric and thread will be provided
- Contractor must have their own sewing machine and basic sewing tools
Pay & Work Volume
- Pay rate: $6 per finished, approved book
- Work availability: Flexible and demand-based
- The number of books available depends on current customer demand
Requirements
- Basic sewing experience
- Access to a sewing machine
- Ability to follow simple sewing instructions
- Attention to detail and consistency
- Reliable and communicative
- Ability to pick up materials and drop off completed books in midtown Toronto
Independent Contractor Status
This is an independent contractor position, not an employee role. Contractors are responsible for their own workspace, tools, scheduling, and taxes.
