Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position
At Intelligent Medical Informatics Computing Systems (IMICS) Lab at the Hospital for Sick Children (fully affiliated with The University of Toronto), we conduct high-throughput research in design and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions for Medicine. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work in close collaboration with the PI, clinicians, graduate students and other researchers on a research project focused on Multimodal Deep Learning for Medicine: Utilizing imaging, text, and clinical data for disease diagnosis and prognosis.
Here's What You'll Get To Do:
- Medical data collection, curation, and management (REDCap databases).
- Design, development and implementation of scripts for MRI pipelines for collection, processing, analysis and visualization of neuroimaging data
- Algorithm design and development for medical image analysis, machine (deep) learning, and statistical modeling solutions for different tasks (e.g. segmentation and classification)
- Design and development of multimodal deep learning for medicine: Utilizing imaging, text, and clinical data for disease diagnosis and prognosis.
- Perform quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of algorithms and completeness of collected data.
- Work closely with the deployment team to integrate the newly developed algorithms into the current system.
- Preparing scientific manuscripts and reports.
Here's What You'll Need:
- PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Strong knowledge in multimodal deep learning, including medical imaging and large language models (LLMs), and foundation models
- Prior related publications
- Strong scientific programming skills with Python (PyTorch)
- Excellent technical writing for scientific publications
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well with a team and to use initiative in achieving goals
- Experience in research coordination, data collection and management
- A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives
Employment Type: Full-time temporary 1 year contract with modified benefits (i.e., health & dental).
