Overview
Rainbow Dreams Family Day Home Agency is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and motivated Family Day Home Consultant to join our growing team.
As a Family Day Home Consultant, you will play an essential role in supporting licensed Family Day Home Educators by providing coaching, guidance, monitoring, and professional support. You will help educators maintain high-quality childcare programs while ensuring compliance with Alberta Family Day Home Standards and Agency policies.
This position is ideal for an experienced Early Childhood Educator who enjoys mentoring others, building positive relationships, and making a meaningful impact on children, families, and educators.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular monitoring and support visits to licensed Family Day Homes.
- Observe children's learning environments and provide constructive coaching and feedback.
- Support educators in meeting Alberta Family Day Home Standards and Agency policies.
- Assist educators with curriculum planning, child development, positive guidance, and inclusive practices.
- Review children's records, documentation, emergency preparedness, and health and safety practices.
- Develop action plans and provide follow-up support when improvements are required.
- Support educators during licensing inspections and help address licensing concerns.
- Provide orientation and ongoing professional development to educators.
- Assist with educator recruitment, interviews, onboarding, and mentoring.
- Support the investigation and resolution of parent concerns, complaints, and incidents when required.
- Maintain accurate documentation, monitoring reports, and confidential records.
- Collaborate with families, community agencies, and other professionals to support children's well-being.
- Participate in educator meetings, workshops, and Agency events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Agency Director.
Qualifications
- Alberta Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Level 3 preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in licensed childcare.
- Previous experience as a Supervisor, Director, Assistant Director, Family Day Home Consultant, or Leadership role is considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta Family Day Home Standards, Licensing requirements, and early childhood best practices.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle.
- Standard First Aid & CPR Level C.
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (issued within the past six months).
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Work Schedule
- Part-time (approximately 16–24 hours per week)
- Monday to Friday
- Home visits are generally conducted during daytime hours.
- Hybrid position based in Calgary, Alberta.
