We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Press Break / Sheet Metal Fabricator and Installer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating press brake machines to bend and shape sheet metal components with precision, as well as installing fabricated metal parts on-site or in our production facility. Responsibilities
- Operate press hydraulic brake machines and mechanical shear to accurately bend, cut, and shape sheet metal according to detailed schematics and blueprints.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to ensure precise fabrication and assembly of metal components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, and other measurement instruments to verify dimensions and quality standards.
- Install fabricated sheet metal parts on construction sites or within manufacturing facilities, ensuring proper alignment and secure attachment. .
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols related to welding, machining, rigging, and the operation of heavy equipment such as forklifts.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in construction sites or manufacturing environments involving sheet metal fabrication.
- Skilled in MIG welding, TIG welding, preferred but not required.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with the operation of press brake machines, metal shear, hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers.
- Experience working with stainless steel
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

About Us: LYFT SURFACES INC
Lyft Surfaces was founded in 2017 and is the leading provider of custom elevator interiors for all of Alberta. We design, manufacture, install, service and maintain all types of elevator interiors from the very basic to the most elaborate. Our business is a mixture of industries, such as sheet metal, welding, glazing, finished carpentry, cabinet making, engineering and interior design. The most common materials we use are stainless steel, plastic laminate, particle board, back painted glass, mirror, and vinyl. We manufacture most of our own products in-house.
About the Open Position: Sheet Metal Worker
A sheet metal worker uses a shear and press break to cut and form metal pieces following a specific set of parameters and engineering drawings. They are familiar with the characteristics of sheet metal such as gauges, thicknesses, hardness, etc. They can safely cut sheet metal using a shear and safely operate a hydraulic press break to form the pieces. They have the knowledge to be able to program the press break and experience with bending sequences.
An installer will use common hand tools and power tools such as drills, circ saw, grinder, table saw, etc to professionally install the interiors to high quality standards.
Installers work in team of twos, with a van and all the required tools provided.
Installers will help manufacture and assemble parts in the shop.
This position will be a combination of sheet metal work in the shop and onsite installation.

The right candidate will show up to work every day, on time, ready to do good work. This person will be in good health with the agility to go up and down a ladder and the ability to lift 50lbs. This person is trustworthy to work alone and personable to work on a team.
Abilities / Skills: must be able to read a tape measure. Knows general work safe practices.
Can operate a shear and press break. Press break has a Delem digital controller.
Experience: Sheet metal: Shear operator, Press Break operator. Welding would be nice but not mandatory.
Requirements: Canadian Citizenship; Driver’s License with clean abstract; Own vehicle; Consent to background check
Position Details:
Position: Permanent Full Time Working Hours: Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30pm
Working Locations: Various sites Mostly in Calgary – with some out of town* work such as Edmonton
*Special payments and extras when working out of town
Shop location is just east of Chestermere
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00-$45.00 per hour
