Unit Description:
The Office of the Registrar (RO) provides a number of services to both prospective and current students and is the primary source of information on enrolment, convocation ceremonies and important student dates and events throughout the year. We are a smart, collaborative group of approximately 100, spread across eight departments: Student Services and Financial Support, Undergraduate Recruitment, Undergraduate Admissions, Records, Systems, Scheduling & Examinations, Communications, and Central RO Administration. This supportive and dynamic team works together to provide assistance to students from their first-point-of-contact with McMaster until they graduate.
The Student Recruitment department is a central unit that plays a crucial role in promoting and supporting the undergraduate recruitment strategy of the university. The Student Recruitment department develops and maintains relationships with prospective undergraduate students and their influencers: parents, educators, guidance counsellors, etc. Representing McMaster in various recruiting contexts from large-scale events to one-on-one interactions with students, the Recruitment team identifies and understands relevant demographic and market trends, nurtures relationships and fosters student success as they guide and assist applicants through their recruitment journey.
The Student Recruitment Team is hiring a Recruitment Officer (Events). Serving as the “face of McMaster,” the ideal candidate is a creative, confident, and engaging communicator who thrives on communicating with high school students, parents, and guidance counsellors. This individual will also support McMaster applicants throughout the application process, by offering guidance and support at each stage.
The current project portfolio for this role focuses on planning, coordination, logistics and delivery of major recruitment events and engagement activities both on and off campus. These include high-profile events such as the Ontario Universities’ Fair, Fall Preview Open House, and May@MAC Open House, which attract thousands of prospective students and their families.
In addition, the portfolio will provide operational support, and guidance for the campus tours and other recruitment initiatives. The Recruitment Officer will collaborate with the Assistant Registrar, Domestic Student Recruitment, the Campus Tours team, and peer Recruitment Officers
The successful candidate will also be responsible for evaluating the outcomes of recruitment initiatives to ensure alignment with the University’s enrolment goals and to inform continuous improvement.
Job Summary:
Responsible for attracting well-qualified applicants to the University through a variety of centralized recruitment efforts, programs, and initiatives. Delivers information to students at events as a means to promote the various faculties and specific programs within the University and to ensure the University meets its target enrolment.
Purpose and Key Functions:
Monitor and reconcile accounts, prepare financial statements, calculate program costs, travel expenses and develop budget proposals.
Write and edit a variety of documents including, but not limited to, marketing materials, reports, correspondence and email.
Remain current with frequent changes in all academic areas, programs, admission policies and procedures, digital media and social networking.
