Job Summary:
When a home floods or a fire crew clears out of a building, someone has to get the right people on site fast. At PPCR, that starts with our Dispatch team!
As a Dispatch Assistant, you will work in tandem with a Dispatcher, and the person who turns emergency calls into a crew rolling out the door. You'll take in emergency requests, log the details that matter, track where technicians and equipment are, and keep the schedule accurate while jobs change hour by hour. You'll work closely with our Dispatchers and Project Management teams, learning how emergency labour planning actually works from the people who do it every day.
This is a role for someone organized, calm under pressure, and genuinely interested in logistics and it is deliberately built as the first step toward running your own dispatch board.
Responsibilities:
- Log new emergency requests into the schedule accurately and fast
-
Book employees and confirm bookings for specific Project Management teams.
- Track where technicians are through our GPS system, monitor arrival times, and flag delays before they become problems.
-
Spot logistical issues as they happen and escalate them so they get fixed on the next job.
-
Take in work orders from the Project Management teams and keep the schedule current as jobs shift through the day.
-
Coordinate with Dispatchers and Project Managers on staffing needs across active jobs.
-
Schedule and track debris removals.
-
Coordinate fleet vehicle maintenance, service appointments, and parking apps.
-
Ensure that workers are completing proper documentation and photos on Restorify.
- Confirm scheduled jobs with customers and run satisfaction check-ins once the work is complete.
-
Field calls from customers, clients, and staff to book and confirm appointments.
-
Route service requests and complaints to the right Dispatcher or Project Manager, and follow through until they're handled.
-
Receive and log hazardous materials testing results, such as asbestos, lead, silica, and black water and get them to the right team members.
-
Provide dispatch coverage for when your Senior Dispatcher is away.
- Follow up with field staff so daily activity reports (DARs) are completed every day.
-
Review timecard entries and time-off requests in ADP alongside the Dispatcher.
Where This Role Leads
This is not a holding pattern. The Dispatcher Assistant role exists to build Dispatchers or Project Management staff, and you'll learn the desk from the intake side first — the calls, the schedule, the crews — before you start making live dispatch calls of your own.
The path we hire for:
-
Dispatch Assistant — learn the board, own intake and coordination.
-
Dispatcher — run your own board, make labour and priority calls on live emergencies.
-
Senior Dispatcher / Project Coordinator — lead dispatch across teams or move into project coordination.
Most Dispatcher Assistants are ready to run and supervise their own team within 12–18 months, depending on how quickly you pick it up. PPCR is part of PC Group, which operates restoration companies across BC and Alberta — so there is room to move sideways as well as up.
