About Proline Power
Proline Power is an Alberta-based leader in powerline construction. Since 2012, we have delivered reliable, safe, and efficient solutions across underground power, civil construction, shallow utilities, and utility infrastructure projects throughout Alberta.
In Calgary, our work is heavily focused on underground civil construction supporting electrical utility projects, including duct banks, trenching, vaults, manholes, padmount equipment, shallow utilities, cable pulling support, and full project execution for major utility clients such as ENMAX, ATCO Gas, TELUS, and Rogers.
Our strength is our people. At Proline, we provide our team members with the tools, support, and opportunities they need to succeed, including:
- A strong safety-first culture
- Competitive wages and benefits
- Ongoing training and mentorship
- Career growth in a growing company
- Opportunities to lead meaningful utility construction projects
We are looking for a dependable, experienced Foreman who can lead from the front, take ownership of projects, and help continue building a strong Calgary team.
Position Overview
Proline Power is currently seeking an experienced Underground Civil / Electrical Foreman to lead crews on utility construction projects in Calgary and the surrounding area.
The ideal candidate is a Journeyman Power Line Technician with strong underground civil construction experience. However, we are also open to experienced civil/underground utility foremen who have a proven ability to lead crews, plan work, maintain production, and deliver safe, high-quality projects.
This position requires a strong balance of field leadership, civil construction knowledge, underground electrical understanding, safety awareness, and crew accountability. Approximately 75% of our Calgary work is civil construction and 25% is electrical work, so the successful candidate must be comfortable leading civil scopes while also understanding the electrical utility side of the work.
We are looking for someone who can be trusted to run projects, communicate clearly, solve problems in the field, and hold crews to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise underground civil/electrical utility crews on daily field operations.
- Plan, organize, and execute work in accordance with project drawings, utility standards, schedules, and safety requirements.
- Oversee civil construction tasks including trenching, duct bank installation, conduit installation, concrete encasement, pad installation, vault/manhole setting, backfilling, compaction, and site restoration coordination.
- Support and oversee electrical utility tasks including cable pulling, equipment setting, grounding, terminations support, manhole work, and shallow utility coordination.
- Read and interpret drawings, utility plans, locates, specifications, and construction packages.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, inspections, and daily work priorities.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Proline Power and client standards.
- Complete daily paperwork, tailboards, FLHAs, time tracking, material tracking, equipment inspections, and other required documentation.
- Maintain strong communication with project managers, supervisors, clients, inspectors, and other contractors on site.
- Identify project risks, field conflicts, material shortages, safety concerns, and schedule issues early.
- Mentor apprentices, labourers, operators, and lead hands.
- Hold crew members accountable for safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, and professionalism.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Proline Power’s Health & Safety Manual, client requirements, and provincial safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site.
- Represent Proline Power professionally with clients, inspectors, consultants, other trades, and the public.
QualificationsRequired

- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to plan daily work, manage crews, and maintain production.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physically capable of performing work in a utility construction environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and crew accountability.
Preferred
- Journeyman Power Line Technician certification.
- Experience with ENMAX underground standards and projects.
- Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s licence with airbrakes endorsement.
- Experience with duct banks, vaults, manholes, padmount equipment, cable pulling, shallow utilities, and utility coordination.
- Current safety certifications such as First Aid, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, CSTS, and ENMAX Safety Training.
- Experience operating or coordinating equipment such as excavators, skid steers, loaders, hydrovacs, compactors, and cable pulling equipment.
- Experience working around live utilities, utility locates, confined spaces, and high-traffic urban construction environments.
