Kuugaq Cafe is seeking a motivated, customer-focused, and dependable Front Manager / Barista-Server to lead our front-of-house operations while providing exceptional service to our guests.
This position combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on service duties. The successful candidate will oversee daily front-of-house operations, support staff, ensure excellent customer experiences, and assist with beverage preparation and food service.
Key ResponsibilitiesFront Manager Duties
- Supervise and support front-of-house staff during daily operations.
- Schedule staff and assist with shift planning.
- Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback professionally.
- Monitor cash handling procedures and daily sales reconciliation.
- Maintain inventory of front-of-house supplies and place orders as required.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the dining area.
- Assist with staff training and onboarding.
- Support management with operational improvements and reporting.
Barista / Server Duties
- Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding service.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately.
- Prepare coffee, espresso beverages, teas, and specialty drinks.
- Serve food and beverages efficiently.
- Operate the POS system and process transactions.
- Maintain cleanliness of coffee equipment, service stations, and customer areas.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a supervisory, restaurant, café, or hospitality role.
- Experience as a barista or server is considered a strong asset.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Reliable, professional, and self-motivated.
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling.
- Food Safe Certification is an asset.
Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
