Overview
Johnston Fence Contracting is seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team in a Receptionist role with a clear pathway into Inside Sales. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and is looking to build a long-term career in sales.
You will start as the first point of contact for customers, gaining a strong understanding of our business, systems, and customer needs. Over time, you will transition into supporting and eventually handling inside sales responsibilities, including managing inquiries, preparing quotes, and converting leads into sales.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is driven, organized, and eager to grow, and who is comfortable beginning in a front-line role to develop the skills needed for a successful career in sales. Experience with Jobber is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for all customer inquiries via phone, email, and in person
- Deliver a professional, friendly, and efficient customer experience at all times
- Capture and enter customer information accurately into Jobber to support sales activities
- Coordinate customer requests and communicate effectively with the sales team
- Support the inside sales team with lead intake, follow-ups, and customer communication
- Learn company products, services, and pricing to build a strong sales foundation
- Assist in preparing quotes, proposals, and basic customer estimates both in the office and over the phone, using tools such as Google Maps.
- Transition into handling inbound sales inquiries and converting leads into booked jobs
- Follow up on quotes and opportunities to help drive sales conversions
- Provide product recommendations and identify upselling opportunities
- Process payments, orders, and general administrative tasks as required
- Assist customers with additional services, including Century Stone Storage and retail Elk meat sales
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front office environment
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with confidence speaking to customers in person and over the phone
- Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build rapport and create a positive experience
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable using computers and learning new systems (experience with Jobber or CRM software is an asset)
- Self-motivated with a strong interest in developing a career in sales
- Flexibility to wear different hats; no two days are the same!
- Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and follow through on tasks and customer inquiries
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Comfortable handling payments and basic administrative duties
- Reliable, punctual, and professional with a positive, team-oriented attitude
Preferred (but not required):
- Previous experience in customer service, reception, or sales
- Experience in construction, trades, or service-based industries
- Experience with quoting, lead follow-up, or customer relationship management
- Bilingual (French/English) an asset, but not required.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 44.0 per week
