Job Title: Civil Construction Project ManagerJob Summary:In partnership with our international client, a leader in steel manufacturing, ResourceTek is searching for a Civil Construction Project Manager. In this role, the selected candidate will join our client’s team in an Owner's Representative capacity, assisting in the management of large industrial and office / laboratory construction projects. This is a long-term contract based out of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
We are seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to oversee and coordinate a range of construction activities, including soil improvement, excavation works, and building extensions. The role involves managing projects from early groundwork stages through to structural erection and integration of building services, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery.This is a long-term, project-based assignment with a duration of 24-36 months in duration.Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise soil improvement and excavation activities within the project yard, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and safety standards.
- Manage and oversee renovation works in mill spaces, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations where applicable.
- Lead the civil construction of building extensions, including:
- Piling and deep foundation works
- Shallow foundations and substructure activities
- Erection of metal/steel structures
- Coordination of related building services (MEP systems)
- Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Coordinate with design teams, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Ensure adherence to local regulations, quality standards, and health & safety policies.
- Review and approve technical drawings, method statements, and work procedures.
- Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings with stakeholders.
- Prepare project reports, risk assessments, and documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in civil construction project management, particularly in excavation, soil improvement, and structural works.
- Strong knowledge of foundation systems, steel structures, and building services coordination.
- Familiarity with construction standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple project phases simultaneously.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software is an advantage.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with industrial or yard-based construction projects.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
