About the Role
Regional Property Services Inc. is seeking a Building Technician to join our team, to support our building located at 2045 Portobello Blvd., Ottawa, ON K4A 5P7. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing maintenance and repairs for residential work orders, managing suite turnovers after tenancy, offering operational support for the building, participating in on-call rotations for after-hours services, and assisting the Property Manager with other tasks and assignments within the defined or implied scope of the position
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Work Orders and Suite Turnover:
- Perform minor carpentry, painting, drywall, and building repairs as required.
- Respond to tenant work orders in a timely manner and assist in solving issues as required while recording all services performed within property management software.
Building System Operation/Maintenance:
- General maintenance to exterior (i.e., general repairs, sweeping, shoveling, painting, garbage removal, etc.).
- Organize, clean and maintain all storage areas, electrical, mechanical, and telecom rooms throughout the buildings.
- Provide overtime services as directed by the Property Manager.
- Ensure all Preventative Maintenance tasks are completed and documented as required
- Electrical Systems: oversee all electrical systems both interior and exterior of the buildings in compliance with ESA. (i.e. change light bulbs, flip breakers, trade out like-for-like components.).
- Mechanical systems: operate and maintain mechanical systems and ensure compliance with governing authorities. (i.e. HVAC, BAS, 1Valet, etc.).
- Plumbing: operate and maintain all plumbing systems at the property. (i.e. washrooms fixtures, supply and drain lines, irrigation systems, sump pumps, etc.).
- Roof: inspect and maintain roof to perform as designed.
- Life Safety: ensure all building Life Safety systems are operating and maintained as prescribed.
- Elevators: ensure all elevator tracks are clean and free of debris and the system is operating as designed; licenses are up to date and posted; contractor is performing maintenance on schedule.
Vendor/Contractor Oversight:
- Obtain quotes for work as required and present them to the Property Manager for approval and PO creation.
- Monitor vendor/contractor work to ensure scope of work is successfully achieved.
On Call/Other:
- Participation in after-hours/on-call rotation duties is required.
- This position requires the use of computerized systems and current technology. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the use of technology, such as cell phones and computer systems are required.
- Obtain and maintain all required certified training.
- Perform all work according to the municipal/provincial/federal health and safety guidelines and standards; document actions where required.
- Performs other duties as directed by leadership, or as the position evolves.
About you

Minimum 1 year of building maintenance or other proven competency in a similar position.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Knowledge with electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Must have and retain a valid driver’s licence and legally operable vehicle as on call duties are required.
- Bilingualism is an asset, but not a requirement.

This position is to fill one (1) existing vacancy. The salary range for this role is $50,000 – $65,000/year.
