Living Hope Christian Church seeks a passionate and dedicated youth to join our team for the Canada Summer Jobs 2026 program. This is a temporary full-time position dependent on funding.
As a Child and Youth Worker, you will play a key role in creating a fun and engaging environment for children and youth. Your responsibilities will include organizing various activities and ensuring the safety and well-being of children and youth during the Vacation Bible School (a drop-off program for children aged), Youth Camp and a weekly program which includes storytelling and arts and crafts.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to positively impact the lives of children and youth, foster community spirit, and contribute to a safe and supportive environment. Additionally, it offers valuable work experience when you enter the workforce.
Responsibilities
- Organize and facilitate children/youth activities, including Vacation Bible School (VBS), camp, games, sports, arts and crafts, and group discussion.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children/ youth participants during camp and weekly programs.
- Foster a supportive and positive environment where youth can grow, learn, and build relationships.
- Assist in preparing program materials, coordinating with fellow team members, and participating in the setup and teardown of events.
- Support in the development of creative and engaging activities that cater to the interests and needs of youth participants.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and mentorship to children/ youth in both group and one-on-one settings.
Skills
- A genuine passion for working with children/youth and creating positive, supportive experiences.
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with youth, peers, and leaders.
- Experience in youth leadership, community engagement, or related areas (preferred but not required).
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to model positive behaviour and contribute to a fun and safe environment.
- Must be between the ages of 15-30 (as per Canada Summer Jobs program eligibility).
- A vulnerable sector police check may be required.
