Beach Grove Golf & Country Club is seeking enthusiastic and dependable Cooks to join our year-round culinary team. Whether you're an experienced line cook or looking to continue developing your culinary career, you'll have the opportunity to prepare exceptional food for our members and guests in both à la carte and banquet settings.
Working in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen, you will help deliver high-quality meals while maintaining the Club's standards for food safety, cleanliness, consistency, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items for à la carte dining, banquets, tournaments, and special events.
- Review daily function sheets and prepare food service items accordingly.
- Complete food preparation, mise en place, and station set-up before service.
- Prepare and cook food using a variety of methods including grilling, sautéing, baking, frying, steaming, and boiling.
- Execute standardized recipes while maintaining consistency, quality, and presentation.
- Ensure orders are prepared accurately according to kitchen chits and delivered in a timely manner.
- Prepare stocks, soups, sauces, and other menu components.
- Maintain and replenish cooking line items throughout service.
- Assist with staff meal preparation as required.
- Receive and properly store inventory while following stock rotation procedures.
- Assist with inventory preparation and supply lists for upcoming shifts.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift, including equipment, refrigerators, food-pass shelving, countertops, and storage areas.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety standards.
- Promptly report accidents, injuries, equipment concerns, or unsafe conditions.
- Work collaboratively with all Food & Beverage team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Assist with training and mentoring junior kitchen staff as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall operation of the kitchen.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a commercial kitchen preparing quality food.
- Culinary diploma or equivalent work experience is considered an asset.
- Experience preparing both à la carte and banquet meals is preferred.
- Strong understanding of food preparation techniques, including soups, sauces, and standard cooking methods.
- Knowledge of food ordering, receiving, inventory rotation, and storage practices is an asset.
- Current Food Handler Certification is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
