Position Overview
The Jr. Accountant will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of Wave Homes. This position will assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and month-end processes.
The successful candidate will work closely with the finance and operations team to ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and strong internal processes. This role requires strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction and development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, deposits, reconciliations, and data entry
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card transactions on a regular basis
- Review, code, and enter vendor invoices into the accounting system
- Assist with payment processing and vendor account reconciliations
- Maintain accounts receivable records, including posting payments and following up on outstanding balances
- Prepare and post journal entries as required
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end working papers
- Support preparation of financial reports, cash flow reports, and project cost tracking reports
- Assist with construction cost coding and project budget tracking
- Review invoices and transactions for accuracy, proper approvals, and supporting documentation
- Maintain prepaid expenses, accruals, deposits, and other balance sheet schedules
- Assist with GST filings, payroll-related entries, and other compliance-related accounting tasks
- Support external accountants, auditors, lenders, or consultants with requested documentation
- Help maintain organized digital and physical accounting records
- Assist with process improvements and accounting system updates
- Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis as required by management
What We’re Looking For
- Degree or diploma in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred
- 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred
- Currently enrolled in, or interested in pursuing, the CPA program is an asset
- Experience in residential construction, real estate development, or property management is an asset
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, Buildertrend, or other accounting/project management software is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
