As the Royal Canadian Air Forces’ prime service provider at 5 Wing Goose Bay, Labrador, our team delivers comprehensive air operations, emergency services, logistics and engineering expertise to the Department of National Defence. We work on behalf of DND’s “no fail” mission at Goose Bay: supporting NORAD operations for the projection of air power on the north and northeast coasts of Canada, while supporting military training for the Canadian Armed Forces, Allies and NORAD. 5 Wing Goose Bay provides effective training facilities, adaptable infrastructures, and a unique, austere, and challenging training location. Currently, Serco Canada has over 1,200 employees across four provinces, including a strong and growing Indigenous workforce.
You will be part of a team that works closely with the military customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality and efficient services to DND. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Drive, operate, inspect and perform first line maintenance on all emergency response equipment and apparatus.

Recommend changes to work methods, procedures and equipment to improve cost, time, effectiveness and customer service.

Participate/conduct firefighter training, life safety inspections, fire prevention, and education programs.

Raise and monitor fire reports.

Conduct follow up inspections.

Assist in the inspection, testing and maintenance of Fire Suppression Systems and testing of Fire Alarm Detection Systems.

Conduct building inspections.
- Perform maintenance and assist in inventory control of Unit Fire Extinguishers.

Ensure all assigned deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on time.

Visibly demonstrate Serco Values and work practices while completing duties.

Other related duties relevant to this position as may be required.

Secondary level education.
-
Qualified to minimum of 5A level or Firefighter IAW NFPA 1001, 1002, 1003 and 472 are required.

Qualified EMR 2, IAW Province of Newfoundland and Labrador Standards.
- Must pass annual Firefighter medical and participate in an annual physical fitness test.

Class 3 NL Driver’s license with 9 airbrake endorsement.
- Possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain a Ramp Defensive Driving Course (DND/RDDC) certification to operate vehicles on the airfield is required.

Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test.

Ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability security clearance is required. May be required to upgrade to Secret Level II (dependent upon customer’s security requirements).

Ability to obtain driver abstract.
Hourly Rate: $43.03 / Hours per week: 37.5 hours

In addition to base salary, eligible positions may include other forms of compensation such as annual bonuses or long-term incentive opportunities.
