Company: Promotional Print & Packaging (PPP) Location: Pickering, ON (On-site) Employment Type: Part-Time (3 days per week, flexible scheduling) Compensation: $30–$35/hour Reports to: President
Job Description
We're looking for a People & Culture Coordinator to join our team on a part-time basis. This is an on-site role — 3 days per week with flexible scheduling — and it's perfect for someone who thrives in a hands-on, people-first environment.
You'll be the go-to person for everything that makes PPP a great place to work: hiring the right people, onboarding them well, keeping our workplace safe and organized, and helping shape the culture of a growing company. This isn't a behind-the-desk-only role — you'll know everyone's name, help plan the team BBQ, and be the person people feel comfortable coming to.
We're a team of 80+ across manufacturing, co-packing, design, and project management. We've grown fast and we need someone who can bring structure and warmth to the people side of the business.
Who we are:

What you'll be responsible for:
Hiring, Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle
- Own full-cycle recruitment: write and post job listings, screen resumes, conduct phone screens, coordinate and facilitate interviews with hiring managers, and present offers
- Prepare offer letters, employment contracts, and onboarding materials
- Run new employee orientations and make sure people feel welcome from day one
- Manage employee records and HR data entry (we use Dayforce for payroll)
- Process bi-weekly payroll and administer employee benefits
- Handle offboarding when employees leave — final paperwork, return of equipment, exit documentation
- Manage leave administration and disability/return-to-work claims
Workplace Culture & Employee Support
- Be a visible, approachable presence in the office — the person who knows what's going on with the team
- Help coordinate team events, celebrations, and the things that make people actually enjoy coming to work
- Build and roll out our performance review process — create the templates, coach managers on how to have effective review conversations, and follow through to make sure reviews actually happen
- Support managers with employee conversations, discipline documentation, and conflict resolution
- Help build and maintain HR templates and processes that don't exist yet — you'll have room to shape how we do things from the ground up
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Facilitate Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and inspections, including documentation and follow-ups
- Maintain training records and ensure all employees are up to date on required certifications and safety training
- Maintain health and safety documentation and ensure compliance with Ontario workplace regulations
- Keep employee files, policies, and records organized and up to date
General Admin Support
- Support the leadership team with operational admin as needed
- Help keep things from falling through the cracks — you'll be the person who remembers what needs to get done
You should be familiar with:
- Ontario Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and workplace health and safety legislation
- Performance management processes — building review frameworks and coaching managers who haven't done formal reviews before
- Full-cycle recruitment and employee onboarding processes
- HRIS systems and payroll processing (Dayforce knowledge is an asset)
- Benefits administration, leave management, and employee record-keeping
- General office administration and organization
- Comfort with learning new software (we also use Odoo as our ERP — you don't need to know it coming in, but you should be comfortable picking it up)
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous experience in an HR coordinator, office manager, or people operations role
- Experience in a manufacturing, logistics, or similar hands-on environment is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and good judgment
- A genuine interest in people — not just processes
It would be awesome if you:
- Have been out of the workforce for a while and are looking for meaningful part-time work that fits your life
- Want to be part of a growing company where you can actually make an impact, not just fill a seat
- Are the kind of person who notices when someone's having a rough day
- Can bring structure without making things feel corporate
- Aren't looking for a stepping stone — you're looking for the right fit
If all of the above sounds like you, let's talk!
