Intake Worker
This is a Part-Time position starting as soon as possible.
Location & Hours
Work location: On-site at Distress Centre Calgary (999 8 St SW, Suite 500).
Hours: Part-Time, 15 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, and Thursday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm , with occasional evenings or weekends as required.

What to Expect
The Intake Worker reports to a Manager and coordinate counselling intakes, manages waitlists, and schedules appointments for individuals and families seeking counselling and crisis services. This role plays a key role in ensuring communities members with safe and timely access to appropriate support.
The Intake Worker will maintain an accurate and up-to-date counselling waitlist, connect with referred individuals to schedule services, and ensure timely follow-up and closure of referrals to support efficient access to counselling.

Client Intake & Assessment

Conduct intake assessments and crisis screening.

Identify client needs and connect them to appropriate services.

Support client safety through risk assessment and referral planning.
Service Coordination

Coordinate the counselling intake process from referral to appointment.

Match clients with the right counselling services and providers.

Manage waitlists and support timely access to care.
Documentation & Administration

Maintain accurate client records, documentation, and data.

Support reporting requirements and program effectiveness.

Ensure confidentiality and data integrity.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Provide support and information to clients, staff, and volunteers.

Participate in training, team meetings, and knowledge sharing.

Contribute to service improvements that enhance the client experience.
What You Bring
-
A diploma or degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related fields.
-
1 to 3 years of experience in Human Services coordinating intakes, conducting crisis screenings, and supporting individuals experiencing mental health concerns or complex needs.

Proven interpersonal and cultural competency skills to work effectively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.

Highly effective organizational and time management skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

High emotional intelligence, with demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including, Word, Excel and Outlook.
Additional Employment Requirements
As a condition of employment, all successful candidates are required to complete and maintain a Police Information Check. For those in direct service user-facing roles, a Vulnerable Sector Search is also required.
