Job Summary
We are seeking career-oriented candidates to perform fiber-optic construction tasks as part of our growing team. In this entry-level role, working under the guidance of senior technicians, you will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks performing tasks like cable placement, termination, splicing, and testing. This role involves working in various environments, including outdoor and indoor settings. The Fibre Optic Technician will ensure the reliable delivery of high-speed data services by adhering to safety standards and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
Installation and Maintenance:
- Assist in setting up new fiber optic systems in various environments (MxU, homes, businesses, etc.).
- Help maintain existing fiber optic networks, ensuring optimal performance.
- Install, repair, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables and equipment.
Cable Termination and Splicing:
- Learn and assist with terminating fiber optic cables using various connectors.
- Participate in fiber splicing procedures to connect optical fibers.
Testing and Troubleshooting:
- Perform basic fiber optic testing using tools like VFL, OTDR, power meter, and light source.
- Assist in identifying and resolving issues within the fiber optic network.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and testing results.
- Update inventory and track equipment usage.
Other Duties:
- Follow safety protocols and procedures when working with fiber optic equipment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and clients.
- Assist with other tasks as assigned by supervisors.
- Support and work with customers and contractors with courtesy and respect
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in telecommunication contruction, installation, service, or related field
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to operate equipment and motor vehicles in a safe manner
- Ability to travel and after-hours work as required
- Ability to lift packages up to 60lbs
- Detail and quality-oriented individual

- Organized and committed to efficiency
- Reliable personal vehicle and valid Alberta Driver’s license
- Open to mentorship and coaching
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
