Job Summary
I am seeking a compassionate and dedicated male Support Worker for my father. He is a senior aged male with early onset frontotemporal dementia and mobility issues. He currently resides at a care home.
The Support Worker will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life through personalized support and companionship.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
- Some meal preparation to ensure proper nutrition for clients.
- Offer companionship and engagement in meaningful activities to promote mental well-being.
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor health conditions.
- Support individuals with dementia care, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the living space.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Document progress and report any changes in condition to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
- Male support worker only (please identify your gender in your application document)
- Must be legally permitted to work in Canada
- Will be paid for services rendered upon receipt of a properly formatted invoice, which must include PSW's social insurance number and, if applicable, business number. For greater clarity, the PSW will not be an employee or contractor and no T4, T4A or other government forms will be provided.
- Must have up to date first aid and CPR training
- Previous experience in caregiving or support roles is preferred, particularly in senior care or home care settings.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is a plus.
- Ability to perform light housekeeping tasks and maintain a clean environment for clients.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- A background will be required prior to employment.
Job Types: Part-time, Freelance
Pay: $21.88-$22.59 per hour
