The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run.
This year’s event will be taking place on Sunday, October 4th, 2026.
Tasks for this role include:
- Confirm with the committee the meeting location for Participants of Hope before the parade or send off begins
- Hand out flowers to POH participants (if your site includes this tradition- some will have them in the Hope Lounge)
- Ensure POH participants understand the parade route—whether it leads to the stage or around the site
- Share all key details: who leads the parade, who to follow, where it ends, and what happens after
- Be a calm, kind presence—this is a meaningful moment for many
- This is an active role in which you will need to stand for long periods of time
Definition of Participant of Hope: This group includes people in active breast cancer treatment, those living with metastatic breast cancer, breast cancer survivors, and individuals who carry a genetic risk for the disease.
