Position Overview:
Join our shovel crew and be part of the team that keeps properties safe and accessible during winter storms. You’ll work alongside experienced crew members to clear snow and ice from sidewalks, parking lots, and other pedestrian areas. This is a fast-paced, physically demanding role that requires reliability, teamwork, and a commitment to safety.
Position Details:
Hours are On-call availability required for every storm event, any time of day or night.
Wage: $19.00-21.00/hour (depending on experience)
Season: November 15-April 15
Location: Bay of Quinte (Belleville/Trenton area)
Key Responsibilities:
Clear snow and ice from sidewalks, walkways, and parking areas
Operate shovels and handheld snow-blowing equipment safely and efficiently
Follow crew leader instructions and maintain communication during storm events
Maintain a clean , safe work area and remove debris as directed
Report any safety concerns or equipment issues immediately
Work as part of a team to meet response times and customer expectations
Maintain equipment in good working condition
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Valid G class driver’s license
– Clean driver’s abstract
– Ability to respond to storm call-outs at any time of day or night
– Physical ability to perform heavy shoveling and snow removal for extended periods
– Willingness to work in cold weather conditions
– Reliable transportation or ability to get to job sites on short notice
– Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
– Clear communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Previous snow removal or landscaping experience
– Experience with snow-blowing equipment
– First Aid/CPR certification would be an asset
– Positive attitude and strong work ethic
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
– Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly
– Ability to work in standing position for extended periods
– Comfort working in cold, wet, and potentially icy conditions
– Manual dexterity for operating handheld equipment
