Position Overview
We are seeking caring, dependable, and motivated Residential Child & Youth Workers to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals living in a group home setting — assisting with daily activities, personal care, life skills, and community engagement.
Our ideal candidate is compassionate, patient, and dedicated to helping others build independence while maintaining safety and respect in the home.
Shifts:
- Sunday- Thursday: 7:00am - 3:00pm
- Sunday- Thursday: 3:00pm- 11:00pm
- Tuesday- Saturday: 7:00am - 3:00pm
- Tuesday- Saturday: 3:00pm - 11:00pm
Key Responsibilities
- Support residents with daily living tasks, including personal care, meal preparation, and household routines.
- Develop positive, trusting relationships with individuals and foster a safe, inclusive environment.
- Implement support and intervention plans in collaboration with the team and coordinator.
- Conduct individual and group support sessions focused on life skills, communication, self-regulation, and social development.
- Monitor and document individuals’ progress, behavior, and activities accurately using ShareVision and other tools.
- Assist residents in accessing community resources, attending appointments, and building social connections.
- Respond effectively to crises or behavioral incidents, ensuring safety and well-being for all individuals.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with team members, caregivers, and external service providers.
- Perform light housekeeping and household maintenance tasks as needed (e.g., cleaning, lawn care, small repairs).
- Participate in team meetings, follow all policies and procedures, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Social Services, Human Services, or a related field; a combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience working in residential care or with individuals who have developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, or complex needs is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a calm, solution-focused approach.
- Comfortable using computer programs such as ShareVision, Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Docs.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs and perform physical aspects of care.
Required Certifications and Documentation
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
- Food Safe Certification
- Negative TB Test
- Provincial Criminal Record Check (Children & Vulnerable Adults)
- MCFD Criminal Record Check (HUB Clearance)
- Health Clearance Certificate
- Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable vehicle (with business insurance and $3M liability coverage, if applicable)
- Clear Driver’s Abstract
- Mandt Certification (training available upon hire)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
Pay: $27.00-$30.69 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week
