Position: Operations Supervisor - Nights
Reporting To: Night Manager
Summary
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing multiple University of Alberta sites, ensuring operational effectiveness, employee performance, and compliance with Bee-Clean’s health and safety standards. This role involves frequent travel between client locations, close collaboration with area managers, and hands-on involvement in safety, training, and workforce management. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment while maintaining professionalism, accountability, and flexibility, including night duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Supervise, coach, and correct frontline employee performance to ensure compliance with company health & safety standards, policies, and procedures.
- Foster respectful, professional working relationships in a diverse workforce.
- Ensure Bee-Clean employees and subcontractors comply with uniform, identification, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Manage the health & safety onboarding and orientation processes for new hires.
- Apply disciplinary processes in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Act as a replacement for supervisors or site managers when required, particularly in employee supervision and safety-related matters.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee health & safety records.
Safety Administration
- Oversee sites to ensure compliance with Bee-Clean’s health and safety program.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation, regulations, and codes.
- Complete, maintain, and submit all required safety documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits.
- Organize and lead safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Perform field-level hazard assessments in collaboration with frontline staff.
- Support projects with safety planning and implementation.
- Conduct incident investigations, complete reports, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports and safety observations to Night Managers and subcontractors, where applicable.
- Train and retrain employees on safety procedures, equipment use, and company policies.
- Maintain and update Safety Data Sheet (SDS) binders.
- Scan, file, and organize monthly safety documentation for each site.
General
- Implement and enforce company policies, practices, and procedures across all assigned sites.
- Order, distribute, and deliver PPE, first aid kits, and emergency clean-up kits as required.
- Assist operations and administrative staff with supply orders, transportation supports, and other duties as assigned.
- Prepare and submit physical demand analyses.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior management.

Work Conditions
- This role is designed as a night shift supervisor position, working Sunday through Thursday nights. Candidates must be available and willing to work overnight hours on a consistent basis as a condition of employment.
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, and climb stairs for extended periods while conducting site inspections and overseeing operations.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 74 pounds, including PPE supplies, first aid kits, emergency clean-up kits, equipment, and boxes of supplies.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks such as lifting, reaching, crouching, and handling equipment at various work sites.
- Ability to perform administrative duties while seated at a desk, including computer-based documentation and reporting.
- Ability to travel frequently between multiple sites using a personal vehicle.
