Permanent Full-Time | Remote Mining Site | Northern British Columbia
Western Protection Alliance Inc. is hiring experienced, reliable Security Guards for permanent full-time positions at a remote mining site in Northern British Columbia.
This position works a 14-days-on / 14-days-off rotation, with 12-hour shifts. Travel to and from the site, accommodations, and meals are provided.
Compensation and Benefits
- Approximately $4,700 gross per 28-day rotation cycle, based on the scheduled rotation and applicable overtime
- Travel to and from the worksite provided from Vancouver, Kamloops, Edmonton, Calgary, or other approved airports

About the Role
Security Guards are responsible for helping maintain a safe, secure, and professional environment at a remote mining operation. This is an operational security position that requires strong communication, accurate documentation, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with employees, contractors, visitors, and other members of the site team.
Responsibilities include:
- Controlling and documenting access to the site
- Verifying personnel, visitors, vehicles, and deliveries
- Assisting with baggage searches and screening procedures
- Providing road-use orientations, directions, and site information to incoming personnel
- Communicating with Security personnel and other site departments by email, telephone, Microsoft Teams, and radio
- Preparing clear, accurate, and detailed security reports
- Entering and maintaining information using computer-based systems
- Following established access-control, screening, safety, and emergency procedures
- Maintaining situational awareness and responding appropriately to changing site conditions
- Providing professional customer service to employees, contractors, visitors, and other stakeholders
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A valid BC Security Worker Licence – Security Guard
- An unrestricted Class 5 driver's licence and acceptable driving record
- Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screening, including drug and alcohol testing
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a remote mining environment
- Ability and willingness to travel in small aircraft
- Confidence driving on remote and radio-controlled resource roads
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prepare accurate written reports
- Professional appearance, conduct, and customer-service skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Good judgment, reliability, adaptability, and problem-solving skills
Computer Skills – Required
Intermediate to advanced computer literacy is required for this position.
Successful candidates must be comfortable working independently in a Microsoft Windows environment and using computers as part of their regular security duties.
Applicants should have practical working proficiency with Microsoft 365, including:
- Microsoft Outlook – email, calendars, attachments, folders, and professional correspondence
- Microsoft Word – creating, editing, formatting, and saving documents and reports
- Microsoft Excel – entering and organizing data, working with spreadsheets, basic formulas/functions, sorting, and filtering
- Microsoft Teams – messaging, meetings, file sharing, and team communication
- Windows – navigating files and folders, saving and locating documents, working with multiple applications, and performing routine computer tasks
Candidates must also be comfortable learning and using site-specific access-control, reporting, and information-management systems.
Because computer-based communication, recordkeeping, and reporting are regular components of this position, applicants should already possess these skills rather than relying on extensive introductory computer training after hire.
Remote Work Environment
This is a remote mining-site position. Candidates must be comfortable living and working in a camp environment for the duration of each 14-day rotation.
The site maintains established health and safety procedures relating to matters including:
- Remote-site and mining hazards
- Wildlife interaction
- Infectious-disease prevention and control
- Vehicle and road safety
- Emergency procedures
- Site-specific security and safety requirements
All employees are required to complete site orientation and comply with applicable Western Protection Alliance and client health, safety, security, and operational procedures.
