Job Summary
This position is responsible for the design, programming, implementation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electrical control systems and automation equipment used in the manufacturing of automotive spoilers. This role supports production efficiency, equipment reliability, safety, and quality by ensuring optimal performance of PLC-controlled systems, robotics, and automated manufacturing processes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIRED:
- Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial automation environment (automotive industry preferred)
- Strong hands-on experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 / RSLogix and/or Siemens TIA Portal)
- Experience with troubleshooting and programming HMI/SCADA systems
- Knowledge of industrial robotics (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, or similar) considered an asset
- Strong understanding of electrical systems including 24VDC, 120VAC, and 480VAC control circuits
- Experience with sensors, servo drives, motion control systems, and vision systems
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex automation issues under pressure
- Knowledge of health and safety standards in an industrial environment (OHSA, CSA standards)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
- Willingness to support off-shift hours, overtime, and emergency breakdown situations as required
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Controls & Automation
- Design, develop, Maintain and implement PLC programs for automated manufacturing equipment and production lines.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues on production equipment.
- Support integration and programming of robotics, sensors, HMIs, servo drives, and vision systems.
- Modify and improve existing control systems to enhance productivity, cycle time, and equipment reliability.
Maintenance & Production Support
- Provide hands-on technical support to maintenance and production teams during equipment breakdowns.
- Diagnose root causes of recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Assist in commissioning and start-up of new equipment and automation systems.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead or support automation and process improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and scrap.
- Optimization of manufacturing processes (cycle time, scrap reduction, and efficiency improvements)
- Development and refinement of standard work, process parameters, and work instructions
- Collaboration with production, quality, and maintenance teams to improve overall plant performance
- Support for tooling, fixturing, and line balancing improvements
- Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and system optimization.
- Participate in lean manufacturing and kaizen activities related to automation.
Documentation & Compliance
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics, PLC documentation, and control system standards.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards (e.g., OHSA, CSA, electrical codes).
- Maintain accurate records of programming changes and equipment modifications.
Project Support
· Collaborate with engineering, production, and external vendors on capital projects.
· Support installation and validation of new automation equipment and tooling systems.
· Manage timelines and technical deliverables for controls-related projects.
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATION:
- Communicates with administrative, professional, plant and management staff as required.
- Provide and/or participate in training as required.
- Perform compulsory overtime as necessary when overtime is within legislative and Company requirements.
- Comply with Company rules, policies and procedures as stated in the INOAC Employee Handbook.
· Perform other work duties when assigned by your supervisor.
QUALITY ASSURANCE:
- Reports any deficiencies in product, systems, facilities, machinery or equipment to supervisor/manager.
- Records and/or reports product non-conformance and product damage to supervisor/manager.
- Complies with Quality Assurance policies and procedures.
- Participates and contributes to effective production efficiency.
Lean Manufacturing / 5S / CI / Security:
· Participate and contribute towards the company’s lean manufacturing, 5S & CI initiatives.
- Ensure that all internal documentation is secured in a confidential manner (24) hours a day.
- Must not disclose to any person, without the Company’s consent, any information concerning its inventions, processes, methods, trade secrets, or secret procedure owned or used by the Company or nay confidential information in any way relating to the Company’s business or affairs

Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
