Position Overview
The Cabin Leader plays a key role in creating a positive, safe, and memorable camp experience for all campers. This position is responsible for supervising a cabin group, fostering a supportive community, leading daily routines, and assisting in camp activities. Cabin Leaders act as role models, mentors, and caretakers, ensuring campers feel included, engaged, and encouraged throughout their stay.
Key Responsibilities
Camper Supervision:
Provide direct supervision for an assigned cabin of campers, maintaining their safety and well-being at all times.
Community Building:
Foster a positive cabin environment by encouraging teamwork, respect, and inclusivity among campers.
Daily Routine Management:
Lead campers through daily schedules—including wake-up, meals, programs, rest time, and lights-out—ensuring smooth transitions and punctuality.
Activity Support:
Assist with camp-wide activities, games, and programs; lead or co-lead activities when assigned.
Camper Support & Behavior Guidance:
Address behavioral challenges using positive behavior techniques; communicate concerns to senior staff as needed.
Health & Safety:
Monitor campers for physical or emotional needs, follow safety protocols, and assist with first-aid procedures under camp guidelines.
Role Modeling:
Exhibit camp values, demonstrate professionalism, and maintain a positive attitude throughout camp sessions.
Qualifications:
Minimum age requirement (19+).
Previous experience working with children or youth preferred.
Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
Ability to stay positive, energetic, and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to live on-site in cabin housing for the duration of the camp session.
Working Conditions:
Residential, outdoor camp environment.
Long, active days with limited personal time.
Requires participation in all camp events, including overnight supervision.
