An IELTS teacher prepares students for the IELTS exam by delivering lessons on listening, reading, writing, and speaking, developing personalized study plans, and providing feedback. They conduct practice tests and mock exams, stay updated on exam formats, and help students develop test-taking strategies and improve their English proficiency to achieve desired scores. Key duties include creating lesson plans, monitoring progress, and maintaining a positive learning environment. Core responsibilities
- Instruction and lesson planning: Design and deliver engaging lessons covering all four modules of the IELTS exam (listening, reading, writing, and speaking). Create and use effective teaching materials and resources.
- Student assessment and feedback: Assess students' strengths and weaknesses to personalize learning plans. Provide constructive and individual feedback to help students improve and monitor their progress.
- Test preparation: Conduct regular practice tests and mock exams to evaluate student performance and build confidence. Provide guidance on test-taking strategies and time management.
- Student support and guidance: Help students set realistic goals and achieve their target scores. Offer academic and emotional support to help manage test anxiety.
- Curriculum and administrative tasks: Stay updated on the latest IELTS exam formats, updates, and scoring criteria. Keep accurate records of student progress and attendance.
Key qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field is often required.
- Certifications: An IELTS Trainer certification or equivalent, such as TESOL/TEFL/CELTA, may be necessary.
- Experience: Proven experience teaching IELTS preparation courses is a significant advantage.
