In this role, you will:
- help plan, develop, and deliver training programs and materials for staff, including supporting classroom and field-based courses;
- work with subject matter experts to design learning products, training exercises and course content;
- conduct needs, task and gap analysis to support training plans and identify improvement opportunities;
- coordinate training logistics such as scheduling courses, booking venues and organizing materials and equipment;
- support audits, evaluations and assessments of training and operational activities, and report findings;
- prepare and maintain training documentation, data, and resources, including course outlines, reports, and presentations.
- You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
- demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles and experience delivering structured training (e.g., classroom, field, simulation-based)
- ability to support development and delivery of training programs, courses, and learning materials in a technical or operational environment
- experience instructing, coaching, or mentoring learners and evaluating learning outcomes
- strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver training, prepare reports, and develop learning materials
- ability to convey information clearly and adapt communication style for different audiences
- demonstrated interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively, provide feedback, and work diplomatically with stakeholders
- ability to conduct needs, task and gap analysis to inform training plans and program improvements
- experience using data or feedback (e.g., audits, assessments, statistical analysis) to evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements
- skill in developing exercises, scenarios, or evaluation tools to support competency-based training
- knowledge and ability to quickly learn about wildland fire operations, equipment or emergency response environments
- ability to conduct field evaluations, task assessments and provide actionable feedback to operational staff
- capacity to work in physically demanding environments and support training/audit activities in field conditions
- ability to coordinate logistics for training programs (e.g., scheduling, venues, materials, stakeholders)
- experience supporting or contributing to operational or training plans
- strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
