Wai Wah Environmental is a Kitselas First Nation-owned environmental consulting firm that provides innovative solutions and quality results within a broad spectrum of ecological, cultural, and industrial fields. We are looking for an Operations Manager to join our expanding team in an extensive array of initiatives, including, but not limited to oil and gas, mining, utility works, as well as terrestrial and aquatic habitat restoration.

Contract Term/Status Permanent, Full Time
Compensation $105,000 – $125,000/year, commensurate with education and experience
Location Terrace, British Columbia (BC)
Environment Primarily office based
Work Conditions Normal working days are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Occasional evening or short-notice hours may be required during peak project periods (i.e. month end, proposal deadlines, etc.).

Role Profile Description
The Operations Manager (OM) is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall operational performance of Wai Wah Environmental. Working directly with the CEO and CFO, the OM will oversee project delivery, business development, staff management, and strategic growth initiatives. This position requires a dynamic, results-driven professional who can manage competing priorities across multiple projects and sectors, including oil and gas, mining, utility works, government, and environmental restoration.
The OM will be responsible for ensuring that all project teams, field staff, and contractors are set up for success and that company operations run efficiently, profitably, and in alignment with Wai Wah Environmental’s values and strategic goals. The OM reports directly to the CEO.
Key duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee Program and Project Managers, Field Staff, Administration, and Contractors, ensuring they are supported to successfully deliver project outcomes.
- Directly manage a portfolio of assigned projects, overseeing scope, budget, scheduling, and client deliverables from initiation through completion.
- Manage hiring, workforce planning, performance management, and professional development of technical and field staff.
- Partner with CEO and CFO on strategic planning, organizational structure, financial forecasting, and long-term business growth.
- Drive business development through conferences, tradeshows, client meetings, and marketing initiatives to promote and grow the company.
- Forge and maintain strategic partnerships and key relationships with clients, Indigenous organizations, regulators, and industry partners.
- Oversee company-wide budgeting, resource allocation, invoicing systems, audits, and financial controls.
- Lead contract development, scope definition, and negotiation in coordination with executive leadership and legal counsel.
- Develop and enforce corporate safety, compliance, and risk management programs
Job Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Engineering, Resource Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of demonstrated experience in operations management, project management, or senior leadership within consulting, government, or natural resource sectors.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Strong financial acumen with experience overseeing budgets, resource allocation, and cost control.
- Excellent business development skills including experience with proposals, client relations, and strategic partnerships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, presentations, and client submissions.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and ability to make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint/Teams).
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Local or regional knowledge of northern British Columbia considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Indigenous business practices and experience working with First Nations organizations considered a strong asset.
