Job Summary
The Order Picker/Forklift Operator is responsible for day-to-day order picking, operation of the forklift & off loading of containers. You will ensure maintenance of equipment and a safe, clean environment. is properly maintained and regularly counted along with ensuring shipments are staged in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for off loading of containers using a Forklift using a boom attachment
- Inspect all materials being staged are accurate and as per paperwork
- Operate forklift according to safe operating procedures, including acquisition and maintenance of training certificate
- Ensuring that all operating equipment is in good working order, safety checks are performed and documented and reporting any deficiencies to Management
- Responsible for inspecting and communicating all issues with containers to Management
- Responsible for organization and cleanliness of warehouse
- Responsible for ensuring that the warehouse is properly stocked with all shipping and receiving materials/supplies
- Ensure optimum and safe use of available storage areas
- Maintains safe work practices by using all required safety equipment (PPE)
- Comply with safety rules; report all accidents, incidents and potential hazards immediately
- Follow all lock out/tag out procedures as required
- Respond to any Health and Safety recommendations submitted by the JHSC
- Understand and comply with the worker responsibilities and rights as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&S) of Ontario, as well as, the Company’s safety rules
- Ensure production labels and work orders are completed and, on every product prepared to leave the building
- Assist with arrangement of items to be loaded onto trucks
- Makes sure that the department is always adequately staffed during operating hours
- Communicate all delays to Management
Skills
- 3+ years forklift with boom or crane experience
- Standing for prolonged periods
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs alone and over 50 lbs with assistance
- Work standard manufacturing and /or warehouse hours, which is considered shift work; overtime is sometimes necessary depending on the work volume.
- Typical warehouse environment
- Infrequent exposure to noise in the warehouse
