As an Underground Utilities Pipelayer helper, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining underground utility pipelines. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. You will work with various materials such as PVC, concrete, and metal pipes to ensure the proper functioning of water, sewer, and other utility systems.

Core Responsibilities
- Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain underground utility pipelines according to blueprints, specifications, and safety codes.
- Dig trenches and excavate areas using hand tools, machinery, and equipment to prepare for pipe installation.
- Conduct pressure tests and inspections to ensure the integrity and quality of installed
- Cut pipes to required lengths
- Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers
- Dig trenches to desired or required depths by hand or using trenching tools
- Carry out site foreman’s directives safely throughout daily operations
- Install various sizes and materials of the pipe
- Work safely in deep trenches
- Ability to safely work around excavation equipment including excavators, loaders, packers, etc.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta OH&S guidelines and Whissell safety policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications/Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years working as a Pipelayer helper in the Deep Underground Utility Installation industry
- Thorough knowledge of pipe lasers and transit use (leveled, grade, proper working order)
- Ability to read blueprint and city specifications is required
- Ability to read and understand Locates is required
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills
- Must have high attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
