The Alice Saddy Association is seeking ONE Part-Time, Permanent, Direct Support Professional to fill a vacancy in the Woodstock Area.

About the Role
Reporting to the Manager of Supports, the Direct Support Professional promotes and upholds our mission and values while exhibiting a strong work ethic and contributing to meaningful employment and career development opportunities. In this role you will be responsible for providing person-directed support to a young man with a physical and a mild intellectual disability, in his home, in the Woodstock community, and at Fanshawe College in London.
The ideal candidate will be one that can work a variety of days, evenings, and weekends and has some degree of flexibility to pick up shifts. Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a positive attitude.
- Bring versatility and adaptability to provide individualized and consistent support.
- Seeking out and facilitating opportunities to build and nurture relationships with family, friends, neighbours, and community members.
- Providing personal care and daily living support using a “do with, not for” approach to promote independence.
- Providing support with health-related needs, including physiotherapy, medication administration, and attending appointments.
- Providing support with transferring, navigating from sitting to standing, and support with a walker wheelchair.
- Encouraging independence, self-determination, and support the follow-through on personal decisions.
- Maintaining clear and professional communication with people supported, families, team members, community partners, and the Manager of Supports.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a college diploma in Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Community Services Worker (CSW), Personal Support Worker (PSW), and/or a combination of education and experience.
Pre-Hire Requirements
Successful candidates must provide or complete the following:
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
- Vulnerable Sector Check specific to the Alice Saddy Association.
- Three verifiable supervisory references.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
- Safe Management or CPI certification (Crisis Intervention Training)
- Valid driver’s licence, insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.
