Role
This individual should have a strong leadership background and will work in unison with his kettle crew and the Checker. He should also have a vast knowledge of the galvanizing process and ASTM A123/123M requirements. This incumbent needs to ensure that the kettle is running at the highest output possible, and that all material is visually appealing.
Responsibilities
· Ensure that material meets or exceeds ASTM A123/A123M requirements
· Ensure material is free of any excess zinc
· Material is to be free of kettle skimming’s, including ash and zinc inclusions.
· Ensure kettle crew is working efficiently
· Must have the ability to direct kettle work force
· Must be able to efficiently read and write
· Must ensure that material is ready for the galvanizing process
· Require to help in other areas as required by Supervisor
· Surroundings kettle area is clear from zinc particles
· Ensure kettle dip sheet is filled out accurately
· Be responsible at all times by following H&S policies
· Using the Electronic Thickness Gauge, acquire 5 readings of mil thickness across the surface of the material and record the average mil thickness onto the Dip Sheet and ensure all material conforms to ASTM A123/A123M
· Operate Overhead Crane to load and unload material/steel into and out of the kettle as per H&S and OH&SA procedures
· Record customer’s orders time in and out, and mill thickness on the Dip Sheet
· Inspect material for proper venting and draining, and ensure the load is secure and don’t exceed maximum weight capacity
· Ensure zinc blocks are added per shift based on zinc used
· At the end of the shift: Clean up ash from the kettle, place the ash in the drum, and ensure ash doesn’t exceed 3/4
· Able to lead and instruct Team Members in order to reach daily targets and assist Supervisor as needed
This is a full time position from Sunday - Friday 10 pm -6 am
