Job Summary
We're looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Butcher Shop Team Member. This role focuses on food preparation, meat cutting, ensuring food safety standards are met, and selling prepared dishes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for quality food handling and customer service and be a fast learner. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills in food processing and kitchen operations within a professional setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble food items according to established recipes and standards (barbecue)
- Perform butchery tasks, including meat cutting and trimming with precision and safety
- Handle food products following strict food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Package food items efficiently for storage and customer orders
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area, including kitchen surfaces, equipment, and store
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing customer inquiries and ensuring customer satisfaction
- Support team members in various kitchen tasks to ensure smooth daily operations
- Be customer facing (in-store, over the phone, at farmers markets etc.)
Requirements
- Previous experience in the food industry, particularly in food preparation or kitchen work, is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of food handling procedures, safety standards, and sanitation protocols (Food Handlers Certificate required)
- Able to lift up to 60lbs frequently
- Skills in butchery and meat cutting are highly desirable
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety guidelines
- Prior experience with food packaging is a plus
- Kitchen experience or culinary training is beneficial but not mandatory
- Mandarin or other languages are a very welcome asset
