The Postpartum Community Services (PPCS) team is looking to add a Registered Nurse (RN) operating out of the South Calgary Health Centre, where you will advocate for maternal and newborn health and the immediate needs of the family unit. In this role you will have the opportunity to provide direct care to families and individuals, while focusing on supporting health promotion, prevention, protection, health maintenance and restoration. Support is provided through health assessments and screening, follow up and referral and assessing families for social risk factors. Here you will utilize your independent decision making, problem solving and critical thinking skills to help empower families to feel confident in their parenting journey. The PPCS RN works in an independent role, with minimal supervision, to provide family centered care in clinic setting and as well as by telephone. You will work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary health care team of Nurses, Social Workers and Administrative staff we well as community supports across Calgary to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective and integrated services to the client. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of PCA. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
RN experience in the past five years providing care in a maternal newborn setting Experience with electronic documentation, Microsoft Office, Teams/Zoom. Ability to bend, twist, kneel and respond safely & quickly to a variety of emergency situations. Physically able to perform all duties in practice setting which include ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds, climbing stairs, standing, squatting, and sitting for long periods at a computer screen. The role also may require use of personal protective equipment. Must be able to raise arms above head to appropriately don and doff PPE. Independently perform the skills of a certified BLS provider.
Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing. Current IBCLC. Experience with NBS and serum bilirubin collections. Experience providing teaching related to infant and maternal care during the 2-month postpartum period. Knowledge of community resources related to vulnerable populations, poverty, mental health, domestic violence, addictions, parenting and child development. Experience documenting in Connect Care. Three years' experience, in the past five years working in Public Health PPCS Calgary.
