We are looking for an experienced Project Development Manager – Sales & Estimating to guide the front-end development of warehouse storage, racking, and automated material handling initiatives in North York, Ontario. This role brings together sales, engineering, operations, manufacturing, and external partners to shape practical, commercially sound solutions from the earliest client discussions through to proposal delivery and project transition. The successful candidate will strengthen estimating practices, support technical solution design, and contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, margin performance, and client experience.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the early-stage planning and development of storage and material handling opportunities, ensuring each concept progresses smoothly from initial inquiry to formal proposal.
- Work closely with sales teams to clarify customer objectives and translate operational needs into effective technical and commercial recommendations.
- Assess project specifications, layouts, and supporting documents to prepare complete, accurate, and competitive submissions.
- Provide subject-matter support during client discussions, presentations, and proposal reviews to strengthen business development efforts.
- Create cost-conscious, value-driven solution options that balance performance, quality, and commercial viability.
- Oversee estimating activities by coordinating inputs, validating assumptions, and improving consistency across project costing and proposal development.
- Align internal engineering, operations, and manufacturing contributors so that project scope, feasibility, and execution expectations are clearly understood before handoff.
- Advance building information modelling capabilities and support continuous improvement initiatives that increase profitability, streamline workflows, and elevate customer satisfaction.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, project development, estimating, or a related technical-commercial role.
- Background in warehouse storage, racking systems, automated material handling, or comparable industrial project environments.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare estimates, assess project requirements, and support proposal development for complex solutions.
- Strong working knowledge of planning processes, budget management, and cross-functional project coordination.
- Experience using business and project platforms such as CRM, ERP, and Jira, with comfort working in technology-enabled environments.
- Understanding of cloud-based tools, quality management practices, and structured implementation strategies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across sales, engineering, operations, manufacturing, and external partners.
