Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible to provide advice and recommendations to the different client groups across campus on matters related to the four academic Collective Agreements. Job is responsible to ensure compliance with relevant legislation along with the language of the Collective Agreement and to identify risk and mitigate liability for the University.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of operational management and leadership concepts practices including program/service delivery models, policy development, planning, budgeting, performance measurement management, and human resources
- Knowledge of labour relations and human resources program design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation methodologies, processes, and practices
- Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
- Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
- Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity
- Knowledge is used to lead labour relations academic unit
- Establish and maintain functional relationships with members, leaders and employer representatives as well as others internally and externally as needed
- Works independently, plan and organize multiple responsibilities and projects to meet deadlines, and interpret contract language
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- Completion of Master’s degree in industrial relations or human resources
- Minimum of seven years of previous labour relations and human resources program and service experience.
