Position Summary
The General Farm Labourer is responsible for supporting daily farm operations through planting, cultivating, harvesting, cleaning, and maintaining crops and equipment. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced agricultural environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plant, transplant, and harvest crops according to production schedules
- Water, fertilize, and maintain plants and growing areas
- Prune, trim, and stake plants as required
- Monitor crops for quality, pests, and disease and report concerns to supervisors
- Operate basic farm tools and equipment safely
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and greenhouse facilities
- Sort, grade, and package produce for shipment
- Assist with loading and unloading materials and supplies
- Follow all health, safety, and food safety protocols
- Perform other general farm duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous farm or greenhouse experience considered an asset (training provided)
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions and greenhouse environments
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices
Working Conditions
- Physically demanding role involving bending, lifting, kneeling, and standing
- Exposure to heat, humidity, cold temperatures, and outdoor elements
- Early morning, weekend, and seasonal hours may be required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.60-$20.00 per hour
