We are committed to delivering accurate, efficient, and patient-centred laboratory services. We are currently expanding our team and seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our Hamilton location.
About the Role As a Phlebotomist at Med-Health Laboratories Ltd., you will serve as a frontline healthcare professional responsible for the safe and accurate collection of blood and biological specimens from a diverse patient population. This is a patient-facing, full-time position that demands technical precision, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering a respectful and comfortable experience for every individual in your care. You will work alongside experienced clinical staff, following established protocols to ensure specimen integrity, patient safety, and regulatory compliance at every step of the collection process.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections from adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients
- Accurately label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Verify patient identity and requisition details prior to each collection
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe collection environment
- Follow all infection control, WHMIS, and laboratory safety protocols
- Deliver a positive patient experience through professional and courteous interaction
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) from a recognized institution
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with CSMLS or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred; new graduates with strong practicum experience will be considered
- Proficiency with requisition management and specimen processing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
