We are looking for a safety-focused Railcar Loader / Switchperson to join our team. This role is responsible for safely loading, unloading, and moving railcars on site, working outdoors in all weather conditions in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload railcars with various products and commodities (including dangerous goods).
- Operate switches, derails, hand brakes, and other track devices to move and secure railcars.
- Couple/uncouple railcars; handle air hoses, wheel chocks, and related equipment.
- Perform basic equipment checks and complete daily inspection forms.
- Follow all company procedures, JHAs, and safety rules; use required PPE at all times.
- Assist with general yard housekeeping and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Reliable and punctual with dependable transportation to work.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather and perform physically demanding tasks (climbing railcars, walking on uneven ground, lifting, bending).
- Strong communication and listening skills; able to follow directions.
- Team player who can work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
Assets (an advantage but not required)
- Experience in rail, industrial yard work, or transloading.
- Fall Pro, Rail Safety, First Aid, or equipment tickets (e.g., forklift).
Working Conditions
- Outdoor, industrial environment with exposure to weather, noise, and moving equipment.
- Shift work may be required, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays depending on operational needs.
