Days/Hours Thursday – Monday Stat Holidays when the brewery is open for 1.5x premium pay (or Lieu day, based on business needs)
Working hours fall between 10am – 12am, during open hours of Tap Room.
Flexible availability based on business needs – days, evenings, on-call.
Approx 10% Administrative, 90% Floor Management

The Tap Room and Bottle Shop is one of our best opportunities to leave memorable, positive, and lasting impressions with beer drinkers. These are direct customer interactions with Left Field teammates that take place inside the brewery and exclusively with our products under optimal quality and freshness standards. The Tap Room Manager is responsible for this customer touch point and for making this fan experience the very best it can be.
With the guidance and support of the Director of Tap Room, Retail and Events, the Tap Room Manager is responsible for the execution of strategic plans for the sales channel, along with the day-to-day operations management of the business unit. They will find ways to increase profitability in the Tap Room & Bottle Shop through both revenue generation and cost controls. Through an active presence on the floor supporting and leading the team, the Tap Room Manager will ensure the successful operation of the Leslieville Tap Room and Bottle Shop.
They will create a welcoming, equitable and inclusive environment for guests and team members through an ongoing commitment to feedback, optimization, innovation and learning. This individual is responsible for the consistent delivery of exceptional beer experiences and brand interactions at the brewery. They will provide guidance and leadership to all Tap Room and Bottle Shop Teammates to encourage growth and development and to maintain high service and hospitality standards while upholding the company’s core values.
This position is responsible for service quality, revenue generation, atmosphere management, front-of-house facility standards, teammate recruitment, hiring, scheduling and performance development and inventory oversight of day-to-day consumable supplies and non-beer products in the Tap Room & Bottle Shop.
Responsibilities
– Works with Director and Ownership to drive revenue, maximize profit and uphold beer quality practices. Consistently thinks about ways to improve the business and find unique opportunities for revenue and volume growth.
– Oversees the day-to-day operations on the floor of the Tap Room and Bottle Shop (Front of House) during our busiest customer hours
– Oversees the Customer Service Coordinator who takes care of general email inquiries, public keg sales, home delivery order questions, non-beer inventory and other duties as assigned
– Provide a welcoming, educational, exciting and inviting experience for guests. Finds innovative ways to continuously raise the bar
– Creates and maintains a pleasant Tap Room and Bottle Shop environment that is welcoming and comfortable for guests including attention to detail on temperature, lighting, music, TV, cleanliness, human conduct, etc.
– Routinely checks-in with customers to gather feedback about their experiences. Takes the lead on and respond to all Tap Room and Bottle Shop guest concerns and/or issues
– Takes the lead on providing serving and tours for VIP visitors, licensees and industry guests
– Works closely with the Director, Marketing team and Operations Manager to ensure Tap Room and Events are well stocked with appropriate marketing support materials and beer inventory. Provides all necessary tools for the team to launch new brands and products – fridge/merchandising plans, signage, menus, training etc.
– Supports the flawless execution of in-house events. Works collaboratively with the events team to create new events
– Communicates with other departments to ensure operational effectiveness of Tap Room and Events
– Act as an advocate for the Left Field Brand and values
Team and Department Management
– Provides regular communication with teammates to ensure a high level of knowledge about ongoing brewery and department operations through a weekly written update newsletter and/or other communication vehicles.
– Works alongside Tap Room teammates to provide training, on the spot feedback, coaching and task delegation. Ensure that tap room team members have all of the appropriate resources to complete their job duties
– Leads, motivates and inspires the Tap Room team to create an excellent workplace culture, high employee engagement and overall positive team morale
– Leads the hiring and training of new Tap Room Team Members
– Leads annual performance reviews, conducts regular 1×1 teammate check-ins and leads oral and written discipline including terminations, when necessary
– Leads all training for Tap Room teammates and finds new opportunities for beer and service education to continuously raise the bar and support teammate development
– Creates a safe and inclusive workspace by upholding Safe-at-home policy and Beer For Everybody principles and policies
– Ensure Tap Room breaks are adequately scheduled and executed in a timely manner. Extends and cuts shifts as needed in order to achieve labour targets and maintain service standards
– Responsible for the successful completion (by self and/or team) of all Tap Room duties, including opening, closing and cleaning on a daily basis
– Adheres to all liquor law and licensing requirements including managing guest occupancy levels of Tap Room, adherence to Smart Serve and by-the-glass / retail liquor license standards
– Generates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for Tap Room and Bottle Shop
– With support from the Director and ownership, leads and/or participates in ongoing basic facilities needs, improvements and issues
Administration
– Ensures that all shifts and breaks are appropriately staffed. In the case of personal sick and/or emergency leave, vacations and unforeseen absences, takes the lead on securing teammate coverage and/or adjusts own schedule to maintain adequate service levels.
– Issues monthly Tap Room team schedule while balancing time-off requests and fluctuations in brewery visitor traffic. Fine-tunes the schedule to maximize guest service levels while minimizing teammate labour costs.
– Manages Vacation and PEL tracking for direct reports and administers Tap Room team payroll and Tap Room team tip calculations
– Conducts weekly cash reconciliation and prepares the bank deposit and change order
– Maintains a high level of cleanliness and organization standards in the Tap Room, Storage Areas and Common Spaces
– Leads and/or directs teammates on all draught beer maintenance and troubleshooting, including performing repairs and/or maintenance on equipment as needed (both internal and via third party when necessary)
– Inventory oversight – Monitors and orders Tap Room kegs, packaged product, fully understands and plans for run-outs and timely tapping of kegs, fridge changeovers, new product launches, etc.
– Conducts Inventory reporting of merchandise, promotional materials, non-beer beverages and food items for sale to guests, and day-to-day operational supplies for Tap Room, Bottle Shop and Events
– Participates in Point of Sale and payment systems selection and optimization
– Oversees the quality, accuracy and timeliness of inbound customer service responses via phone and email. Guides, coaches and supports the Customer Service coordinator role and provides sick and vacation coverage for these role duties as needed
– Other administrative duties, as needed
Qualifications
– 3 years minimum service-focused role in a bar/restaurant/brewery or similar environment
– 2 years in a leadership and/or supervisory role, coaching a team, hiring and training
– Prior Tap Room & Bottle Shop experience is an asset
– Basic Beer knowledge (beer styles, serving best practices, draught systems) is a strong asset

– Smart ServeMust be able to move cases of beer weighing 10Kg from ground level or pallets to table height
– Must be able to move kegs weighing up to 90 lbs between skids, floor, and hand carts
– Must be able to constantly move around the Tap Room, storage area, fridge, production area to re-stock, serve, bus tables, complete transactions, clean and organize
