Position Summary:
The Security Guard maintains a safe and secure environment by conducting patrols, enforcing site rules, and responding to incidents while providing professional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular foot patrols and monitor premises to maintain safety and security
- Enforce property rules, regulations, and access control procedures
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, and medical situations (First Aid/CPR/AED)
- Monitor CCTV systems and report suspicious activity
- De-escalate conflicts and manage trespassers or unauthorized individuals safely
- Investigate incidents and document all findings in clear, accurate reports
- Maintain logs and incident reports in accordance with site procedures
- Provide professional customer service using tact and diplomacy
- Collaborate with emergency services and support daily operations as required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Security Licence
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification
- Minimum 1 year of security experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods (8–12 hours)
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-traffic environments (indoors and outdoors)
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- High attention to detail and situational awareness
- Proactive approach with ability to follow direction and retain information
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in retail security or loss prevention
- Experience in high-volume or public-facing environments
- Training in de-escalation or crisis intervention
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in high-stress situations
- Strong emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills
