Kuijpers Key Farm Ltd. is a progressive, family-owned and operated farrow-to-finish pork production farm located near Strathroy, Ontario. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Swine Technician to complete daily tasks in our finishing barn, group sow housing facility utilizing Nedap Electronic Sow Feeding (ESF) technology, and nursery barn.
This position is ideal for a mature, detail-oriented individual who possesses exceptional animal husbandry skills, and strong organizational abilities.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
- Daily health assessment and treatment of animals
- Monitoring animal performance and implementing management strategies to maximize productivity and welfare
- Managing and utilizing Nedap ESF technology to monitor feed intake, animal performance, and sow condition
- Assist with breeding sows, farrowing and weaning processes
- Monitoring and maintaining feed systems, water systems, ventilation, and environmental controls
- Maintaining accurate production, inventory, treatment, and performance records
- Sorting and coordinating market hog shipments
- Implementing biosecurity, animal welfare, and farm safety protocols
- Coordinating room preparation, washing, and disinfection between groups
- Identifying maintenance needs and coordinating repairs
- Working closely with ownership to achieve production goals and continuously improve farm performance
- Following all Canadian Pork Excellence (CPE) standards and animal care requirements
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong animal husbandry skills and a genuine passion for livestock care
- Is highly observant and pays close attention to detail
- Demonstrates leadership, accountability, and initiative
- Is capable of working independently and managing daily priorities
- Possesses excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Has experience working with swine production systems (preferred)
- Is comfortable using technology and production management software
- Values teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement
- Takes pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient operation
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- High School Diploma
- Post-secondary education in agriculture, swine production, or a related field is an asset
- Ability to perform moderate physical labour
- Ability to work 40 hours per week plus every other weekend
- Permanent Resident, Canadian Citizen, or LMIA
