Outdoor Education Coordinator (Full-Time)
Position Overview
Tsay Keh Dene School is seeking a full-time Outdoor Education Coordinator to lead and integrate land-
based and experiential learning across all grade levels.
This position plays a central role in embedding Outdoor Education (OE) within the school’s academic
framework while honoring Tsay Keh Dene culture, land, and community priorities. The Coordinator
will work closely with classroom teachers, the Language and Culture department, Elders, and
community knowledge holders to ensure that outdoor programming reflects both curricular standards
and the lived realities of students in a remote First Nations context.
The role requires experience working with First Nations communities, comfort in remote settings, and a
trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach to education.
This is a full-time, year-round position based in Tsay Keh Dene Nation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Land-Based & Curriculum-Integrated Programming
Design and coordinate a vertically aligned Outdoor Education program across grade levels.
Align OE programming with BC curriculum standards.
Integrate land-based learning and forest school principles into subject areas.
Collaborate closely with the Language and Culture Liaison to embed Sekani language, cultural
teachings, seasonal practices, and community knowledge into programming.
Support teachers in developing outdoor-based assessment and reflective practices.
Facilitate student leadership opportunities within outdoor programming.
