About the Role
We are seeking a high-impact, high-performing, self-accountable Industrial Engineer to help shape the future of process optimization in a highly regulated, technically complex environment.

You will partner with organizational leaders, technical experts and skilled trades to design systems that maximize productivity, reduce waste, enhance quality, and ensure safety, creating long-term value in one of Canada’s most critical industries.
Key Responsibilities / Deliverables
- Lead or contribute to process re-engineering initiatives to optimize complex systems of people, technology, and resources.
- Develop integrated systems to maximize efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain nuclear safety and quality standards.
- Apply decision sciences, engineering-management principles, and continuous improvement tools (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, FMEA, SIPOC) to drive measurable performance improvements.
- Design production layouts and workflows that align with best practices in safety, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Compile and evaluate statistical data to monitor and maintain product quality and reliability.
- Analyze production methods, identify constraints, and recommend optimal allocation of equipment and labour within physical plant limitations.
- Review production schedules, specifications, and processes to identify improvement opportunities.
- Analyze and optimize KPIs, performance metrics, and capacity models to inform operational decision-making.
- Engage stakeholders and manage change to ensure adoption of new processes.
- Conduct time/motion studies, workflow analysis, and bottleneck identification to improve throughput.
- Recommend and implement technological upgrades and process innovations to sustain competitive advantage.
- Develop design and production standards in collaboration with management and users.
- Prepare and maintain process documentation, operating procedures, and training materials to embed improvements.
- Train staff on new processes and provide clear instructions and manuals.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance, fostering a high-performance culture.
Education and Qualificaiton Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Experience in industrial engineering within a highly regulated industry
- Proven track record applying Lean Six Sigma or equivalent continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a questioning attitude.
- Advanced communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including workshop facilitation.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-performance environment.
- Familiarity with industrial engineering software tools (e.g., Simul8) considered an asset.
- Project Management certification and/or leadership experience is considered an asset.
- Willingness to travel locally to vendor sites, on a short-term basis, as needed.
