Role Description
We are seeking a full-time, experienced DZ/AZ Manual Transmission Truck Driver to support our construction and field operations.
Manual transmission truck driving experience is mandatory for this position. Applicants who do not have previous experience operating heavy-duty manual transmission trucks will not be contacted.
The ideal candidate is a dependable, safety-focused driver who is comfortable operating commercial trucks on construction sites and public roadways. Experience operating hydrovac trucks and/or dump trucks is strongly preferred.
Depending on experience and operational requirements, drivers may operate different types of company vehicles and equipment, including dump trucks, hydrovac trucks, and other heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy-duty manual transmission commercial trucks on public roadways and active construction sites
- Operate company vehicles such as dump trucks, hydrovac trucks, and other commercial vehicles as assigned
- Transport materials, equipment, soil, aggregates, debris, or other construction-related loads as required
- Perform thorough daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Inspect brakes, tires, lights, fluids, safety equipment, and other vehicle components before operation
- Complete required driver logs, inspection reports, delivery paperwork, and other documentation accurately
- Coordinate with supervisors, dispatch, operators, and site personnel regarding daily assignments
- Safely enter, maneuver, and exit active construction sites and restricted work areas
- Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, vehicle damage, or job-site hazards immediately
- Follow company safety procedures, site-specific requirements, and applicable Ministry of Transportation Ontario regulations
- Maintain company vehicles in a clean, safe, and professional condition
- Assist with reasonable job-site duties associated with the operation of the assigned truck or equipment
Mandatory Requirements
- Valid Ontario DZ or AZ Driver’s Licence
- Valid Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
- Previous professional experience operating heavy-duty manual transmission trucks is mandatory
- Must be confident and competent operating a manual transmission commercial vehicle without additional transmission training
- Applicants without manual transmission truck experience will not be considered or contacted
- Clean or acceptable driving abstract
- Strong safety record
- Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles on construction sites and public roadways
- Ability to complete vehicle inspections and associated physical job duties
- Strong communication skills
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Preferred Experience
The following experience is considered a strong asset:
- Hydrovac truck operation
- Dump truck operation
- Construction trucking or heavy-equipment environments
- Excavation, demolition, underground servicing, or construction haulage
- Hauling soil, aggregates, debris, or construction materials
- Navigating construction sites and GTA roadways
- Working around excavators, loaders, hydrovac equipment, and other heavy machinery
- WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid, or other relevant construction safety certifications
Important Applicant Requirement
This position requires previous manual transmission truck driving experience. We are not currently providing manual transmission training for this role.
